OXFORD CENTRE FOR INNOVATION | New Road, Oxford, OX1 1BY | Office: | | Url: Experience Centre “The Constructor Zone”

The “The Constructor Zone” is where children from the age of 3 to 16 may participate in arts and crafts activities. Our art and crafts program increases a child’s ability to: Observe the world carefully and discard preconceptions in order to envision something and then create it Go beyond just learning a skill to express a personal voice Problem-solve and persist despite frustration and setbacks Reflect on the results and ask what could improve them A very strong correlation has been found between childhood engagement in the creative arts and measurable success later in life. Children who were exposed to a wide variety of arts and crafts were more likely to create unique inventions that is worthy of patents, come up with ideas good enough to start a new company, or publish provocative papers on science and technology. Researchers suggest that children exposed to arts and crafts are able to think "out of the box" since a lot of working with hands involve figuring out how to solve problems creatively. After studying some scientists reached this conclusion: "The most eminent and innovative among them are significantly more likely to engage in arts and crafts avocations" than the average Joe. The Constructor Zone Introduction

Benefits can include: Extending their thinking across multiple patterns of intelligence Develop higher thinking skills Enhance multicultural understandings Build self esteem Gain positive emotional responses to learning Engage through a variety of learning styles Arts and crafts engage multiple brain areas simultaneously and improve bilateral coordination between the left and right sides of the brain, leading to immediate and future cognitive development. Activities like arts and crafts accelerate the development of muscles in the hands and fingers, improving fine motor skills that are essential for school success in the earliest formal years. Face-to-face interaction in the early years is critical for optimal social development. Arts and crafts promote rich social interactions that help develop language skills and social cognitive abilities like understanding emotions. Creative activities are a great way to bond with children and create lasting memories. Activities and Benefits The Constructor Zone Fun loom CrayoningPainting
