Acquisition has been completed. 30 acres allotted to Patni Computer Systems and about 5 acres to IIITM-K Leading Indian builders, L&T Infocity and RK Raheja group, have asked for acres of land each to develop IT Space. Leading IT Co.s have expressed firm interest in setting up campuses in Phase III Remaining 50 acres of land have to allocated among these investors  L&T Infocity should be allotted land at the earliest  L&T is a leading Indian IT space developer – built HiTec City in Hyderabad, sparking the IT boom in Andhra Pradesh. Also constructed TIDEL Park, Chennai and ITPL, Bangalore, both of which are considered landmark developments.  L&T’s IT Park in Technopark will be similar, with upto 2-3 million sft of space  It could employ over 20,000 people by in top Indian and Int’l IT firms  IT firms are often more attracted by ready-to-occupy space  technopark’s brand will benefit from L&T’s marketing expertise  Companies like Accenture which initially take up built-up space, may later expand to own campuses, in Technocity, boosting the IT industry in the State

It should be ensured that SEZ status is already accorded to the area, in all respects. 4-laning of the IT Corridor from Kazhakkoottam to Kovalam, under NHDP – III has to be completed at the earliest. Connections to the city road system – consisting of the Trivandrum City Road Improvement Project network and the proposed Outer Ring Road to be taken up on a priority basis  Technocity (technopark Phase IV) - to be taken up on a priority basis  Technocity has the potential to create 100, ,000 direct IT jobs and make Trivandrum the fourth IT Hub in South India  technopark Phases I,II & III are already either full or reserved by investors  500 acres of land have been earmarked with minimal displacement of people, these need to be acquired on a priority basis. Another 1000 acres of vacant land are available nearby. GoK can also acquire this area.  Indian investors like Mahindra Group, Reliance, DLF, Unitech, K Raheja Group etc can take up the project in Partnership with GoK Phase III Source: Technopark, News agencies

Click to edit Master text styles Second level Third level Fourth level Fifth level 15 The Govt: of Kerala URGENTLY needs to - Declare the IT Corridor and specify policy – GoK needs to give substance to the concept by declaring it a special area and formulating specific policies for the Corridor Create Land Bank – Land is currently available at relatively low prices and has comparatively low density of population in most areas. GoK should build up a land bank to the greatest extent possible. Selective waiver of TUDP restrictions should also be expedited for low environmental impact projects Expedite development of International Airport – – GoK should take all steps to ensure that AAI takes up construction of the new International Terminal at the earliest and that construction time is minimized (to less than 18 months) –Expedited the acquisition of land for the Second Phase of expansion work –GoK should also invite as many domestic and international airlines as possible to commence operations from Trivandrum. Target atleast 2 million passengers in end - ‘07 Widen and Develop NH Bypass – The Kazhakkoottam-Kovalam stretch of the NH-47 Bypass should be upgraded to a 6-lane stretch, landscaped and provided with modern road side lighting, traffic signals, roundabouts, signage and high mast lights GoK Commitment is Critical

Click to edit Master text styles Second level Third level Fourth level Fifth level 16 The Govt: of Kerala URGENTLY needs to - Expedite development of ICC – The Aakulam International Convention Centre complex must be developed at the earliest to act as the centre-piece of support facilities in the Corridor Promote IT Corridor aggressively and invite Private Participation – The IT Corridor must become the centre-point of all promotion by GoK intended for IT/ITES firms. Private participation in developing the Corridor and the surrounding region must be sought. Development of Eanchakkal Bus Terminal – The long distance bus terminal at Eanchakkal has to be expedited to improve the transportation along the Corridor. Expedite introduction of more buses and a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) later. Improve access roads to IT Corridor – Access to the Corridor from the City is a critical requirement. Access roads other than the ones under TRDP should be taken up for widening. Phase Two of Road Development should be taken up to further improve access along outer ring roads. Develop Kochuveli Station – The Kazhakoottam and Kochuveli satellite railway stations need to have their capacity expanded, number of train halts increased and the starting of an EMU service needs to be expedited. GoK Commitment is Critical
