PUBLIC HEARING | JUNE 10, 2014 Federal-State Partnership Title VI of the United States Civil Rights Acts This hearing is being held to afford all citizens the right to understand the project and comment on their concerns to the Department of Transportation. This public hearing is being held to comply with the Title VI of the Civil Right Act of 1964, as amended. Public participation at this hearing is encouraged and solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. PUBLIC HEARING | JUNE 10, 2014 Avoidance of Park Property – Section 4(f) Prior to the taking of property from a Section 4(f) property the FHWA must demonstrate that there are no reasonable or prudent avoidance alternatives Three potential alternatives were examined: Avoidance to the East Avoidance to the West Build inside the existing FDOT right of way & detour traffic to the Garcon Point Bridge during the 5-6 year construction period The FHWA has agreed that the avoidance alternatives are not reasonable and prudent
