6- PICAP So Far… U p to date, 27 out of 45 Spanish airports have been already studied using PICAP, covering around the 85% of total movements. The remaining 28 airports are expected to be studied along next years. S ince PICAP started to be applied, significant capacity gains have been achieved in several Spanish airports. From winter 1997 to date, the overall capacity figures can be quantified in 252 new operations in the whole airport network of Spain. P ICAP has become the one only Spanish CAA (DGAC) Certified Methodology on ATC runway capacity. More than runway operations collected and analysed and over hours of simulation computed. E urocontrol recognised in 2001 this methodology as a best practice.

8- Benefits Permanent operational evaluation. New ATC Procedures influences. Master Plans assessment. A s for capacity, PICAP has proved to be a reliable methodology on which decision- making process should be based on: T he experience acquired allow to easily identify the main airports “bottlenecks” and the areas where most efforts have to be made: ATC Procedures. Airfield infrastructures. AIP. Other Indicators.
