RAMADAN DIARY Presenting some historical incidences that happened in the month of Ramadan 1

* Conferment of Prophethood on Muhammad (peace be upon him) as humanity’s last and final Messenger and the Commencement of the (Wahy) Revelation of the Glorious Qur’an in the cave of Hira. * Acceptance of Islam by Khadija bint Khuwailid, the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) * Death of Abu Talib, an uncle of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the 10th year of Prophethood. 2

* Death of Khadija (R.A) on 10th Ramadan in the 10th year of Prophethood. * 2 A.H - Muslim’s decisive victory in the Battle of Badr on 17th Ramadan. * 20th Ramadan, 8 A.H. - Peaceful Conquest of Makkah and Dedicating of Ka’bah for the worship and devotion of the One and Only Almighty Allah. 3

* 9 A.H - Expedition of Tabook and the acceptance of Islam by Banu Saqeef. * 10 A.H - Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent Hazrat Ali (R.A) in military expedition to Yemen and in particular to the tribe of Hamdan – the tribe which came under the fold of Islam in a single day. * 10 A.H - Death of Fatima (R.A), the beloved daughter of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). 4

* 91 A.H. - Landing of Muslims on the Southern coast of Spain which paved the way for the conquest of Iberian peninsula. * 17 Ramadan, 40 A.H – Assassination of Hazrat Ali (R.A) by the Kharijite Abdul Rahman bin Muljim al Hameeri. * 53 A.H. – Victory of Arabs over Rhodes islands. * 58 A.H. – Death of Ayesha (R.A), the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) 5

* 92 A.H. -Triumph of the Muslim leader Tariq bin Ziyad over the King Rodrieque in a decisive combat. * 129 A.H – Emergence of the Dawah of Ibn Abbas under the leadership of Abu Muslim al Kharasaani. * 132 A.H – Fall of Umayyah dynasty and the beginning of Abbasid rule. * 361 A.H – Al Azhar University’s construction got completed, and dedicated for the teaching and learning of Islamic knowledge. * 584 A.H – The Triumph of Salahuddin Ayyubi over the crusades. 6
