Guidelines

Method O Time scale chosen O 1 st Sept 2010 – 31 st Dec 2010 O All patients in ROP Book (on Neonatal Unit) O Check standards against National Guidelines

Audit Standards

Results O 24 Patients Identified O 3 Notes not able to be located  21 Patients Analysed

Gender

Individual Birthweight & Gestational Age 100% of babies <32 weeks GA or <1501g birthweight receive at least one ROP eye examination

Timing of 1 st Screen (postnatal age in weeks) 95% before 5 completed weeks post natal age (postponement documented)

Screening Before Discharge 100% of babies admitted to the unit at <32 weeks GA have at least one eye examination on the unit

Timing of Treatment O Two babies required transfer for further screening O No babies needed treatment

Parent Information O Difficult to find record of written information given to parents about ROP Screening

Transferred Infants O No screening done before transfer O All screening carried out on return
