Henry of Lancaster defeated Richard of York, and became King Henry VII of England in 1485.

Henry VII married Elizabeth of York. Why do you think he did this?

Henry VIII was the son of Henry VII. Henry VIII became king in 1509 when his father died.

Catherine gave birth to Mary. Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon, hoping she would give birth to a son. Divorced Catherine gave birth to Mary.

Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, hoping she would give birth to a son. Beheaded Anne gave birth to Elizabeth.

Henry VIII married Jane Seymour, hoping she would give birth to a son. Died Jane gave birth to Edward. Why was Henry so keen to have a son?
