Misspelled and Misused Words Unknown Words/Dictionary & Thesaurus Use Intermediate Reading CCSS: 3/4/5.L.4 Determine and clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning word and phrases based on reading content. Consult reference materials, both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases. Discuss the Anchor Charts as a class. Model the use of a dictionary and thesaurus to help in filling in Activity Sheet. Use words from current literature or informational text to provide relevancy. Revisit activity throughout the year to master strategies related to word meaning.
