DIRECTIONS 1. Draw the following on your manila paper: A. 1 river across your paper connecting east to west. The river must be about 1 inch wide. B. Draw a wooden bridge across the river. C. Draw 4 roads originating from each direction N, S, E, W D. Draw 10 houses E. Draw 1 church F. Draw 1 cemetery G. Draw 1 store H. Draw 1 pub I. Draw 1 coal mine J. Draw lots trees K. Draw a commons area Do not waste time trying for perfection or coloring your pictures. Once these drawings are complete we will begin the rounds of the Urban Game. (You have 3 min. to complete) GO

ROUND 1 BUILD YOURSELF 1 NICE HOUSE ANYWHERE. DON’T FORGET TO CONSTRUCT THE CANAL. IT MUST RUN PARALLEL TO THE RIVER YOU DREW.

ROUND 2 ADD 5 HOUSES 1 MORE NICE HOUSE AND TAKE AWAY HALF OF YOUR COMMONS AREA LAND.

ROUND 3 ADD 1 FACTORY. REMEMBER THE COTTON FACTORY MUST BE PLACED ON THE RIVER BANK. CANAL WATER IS NOT SWIFT ENOUGH TO GENERATE THE POWER TO MOVE THE PARTS OF THE WATER FRAME. DON’T ADD ANY SMOKE TO THIS FACTORY.
