He was born 16 April 1939 in Split in the family of woodcutter. His talent for acting was discovered in childhood, in children’s plays.After studying to became an electrician, he began to be a professional actor.

He completed National Acting School in Novi Sad, and later enrolled at the Academy of Theatre, University of Zagreb.
