SERIES 800 MOMENT BALANCE SYSTEM
Nobody Knows Moment Weighing Like AWS Unique System to Moment Weigh a SPHERE Connecting Rods Engine Blades äFan äTurbine äRotor äCompressor
Customers Depend on AWS * More Than 30 Years Experience in Moment Weighing * Systems That Were Installed in the 1970’s Are Still Operational * Low Maintenance * Increased Productivity
GE Aircraft Engines Group l Proved the AWS Method is Most Accurate l AWS Equipment Specified For ALL Facilities ( Engine Blade ( Engine Assembly ( Engine Maintenance So reliable is AWS equipment, that in 1982 GE awarded a Class 0ne, Group One QC Code Rating; making AWS a self-certified vendor.
PRATT & WHITNEY AIRCRAFT l Engine Blades Manufactured by: ( HOWMET Corporation ( I.E.P.I. ( TURBO PRODUCTS ( NEW ENGLAND AIR FOIL l Approved for Use on all P&W Engines
U.S. Air Force Units in Service: ( Kelly AFB (3) ( Travis AFB (2) ( Altus AFB ( Dover AFB Engine Maintenance & Overhaul Total Time to Balance an Engine Reduced by More Than 30%
BLADE MOMENT BALANCE
BASE ASSEMBLY Tubular Steel Construction Sand Filled to Eliminate “Ringing” Adjustable Feet for Leveling
Custom HOUSING Eliminates Air Currents About the System LEXAN and Aluminum Tube Construction Sliding Doors Allow Full Access
Time Proven AWS Weigh Cell Patented Mass Balance, Hydraulic Dampening Readings Obtained in Less Than 150 Milli-seconds Accuracy to 0.01% of Full Scale Counterbalanced for Tooling and “Master” Load
SCALE Assembly
RANGE OPTIONS RANGE OPTIONS RESOLUTION = 0.001% of TOTAL CAPACITY
CUSTOM Designed & Manufactured Blade Tooling Designed to Critically Hold Blade as It Will Be Installed Actual Moment As If Installed In Disk Assembly Matched to Scale For Superior Accuracy
CRADLE Assembly
Computer Configuration l Pentium VI Compatible or Better l MS/DOS 6.22 l 1 Serial Port – 1 (9 Pin) for the Input From the Scale l 2 Parallel Ports – 1 for the Label Printer – 1 for the Report Printer
Moment Software (version 2007) Interactive Prompts for Each Operation Part Data Entry/Modification in Less Than a Minute All Settings Password Protected From Unauthorized Changes Prompted Scale Set-Up and Calibration
Ease of Use Minimal Time for Part Selection & Changeover ä Four Screws to Remove & Replace The Cradle ä Menu Selection to Change Software Part Specifications ä Reference the “MASTER” for the New Part
Limited Operator Data Input ä Eliminates Transcription and Entry Errors AUTOMATIC Data Recording Individual Piece Serial Numbering Operator ID Measurement Result
Part Sorting and Data Retrieval äSort to Groups äSort for Matched Pairs äSort Pairs to Matched Sets äAbsolute Sort of Complete Assembly äData to Labels, Reports, and Files
THEORY OF OPERATION l The MOMENT is Measured From the Centerline of the Assembly, Rather Than Some Arbitrary Point. l Computes the “MOMENT ” by Determining the Difference (plus or minus 10% of the Total) from the MASTER or OPTIMUM Blade Moment.. l RESULT: The AWS Method Renders Results That Are At Least 10 Times More Accurate Than Other Methods Of Moment Determination. MOMENT is a factor of the mass of the part, times the distance of the Center of Mass from the Centerline of the Scale Assembly
OPERATION After the the System Setup, The Operator Follows These Steps: äEnters Individual Operator ID äSelects the Part to be Measured äInserts a “MASTER” Blade into the Cradle for Referencing äRemoves the “MASTER,” Inserts a Part to be Measured
After Closing the Housing Doors, äAllows the Scale to Settle, Pushes the F5 Key, Enters the Part Serial Number and Press the ENTER Key äThe Label is Printed and the Measurement Data is Saved to a File The Operator Continues Inserting Parts Until a Sufficient Number for Accurate Classification Have Been Measured
The Entire Process of Loading a Part into the Cradle, Closing the Housing Door, Measuring the Part, Removing It, and Affixing the Label; Takes Less Time Than It Is Taking Me to Tell You About It!
Cost Benefits Increased Productivity ä Up to 10 Parts Per Minute ä Limited Operator Data Entry Between Parts ä One Scale Can Measure Several Parts ä More Than 35% Reduction in TOTAL Time to Balance an Engine Economical Operation ä 115 VAC/60Mhz Power Minimum Operator Training Required
Advantages of the AWS System Unmatched Accuracy Mechanically Provable “In the Field” Ease of Use Selectable Part Sorting Methods Increased Productivity Economy of Operation
