This large species can weigh 110 pounds and measures 20 feet across from arm tip to opposite arm tip. The smallest octopus lives in the Indian Ocean. It weighs less than 1 ounce and measures about 1 inch from arm tip to arm tip. The body of the octopus has no bones. An octopus has 8 arms or tentacles. If an octopus loses a tentacle, then a new arm grows in its place. The life of an octopus is very short. Many octopuses live for less than one year. Though the largest octopus can live for 3 years.
