The Emperor Penguin is the largest out of the Penguin species, they stand 4 feet (1.2 metres) tall. They are also carnivores (an animal that gets food from killing and eating other animals). Emperor Penguins life span is about years. Their group name is called a colony. The female penguin hatches a single egg then promptly leave it behind. They then go on a hunting trip that lasts some two months.

There are 35 different types of seals but only six types live in Antarctica Weddell Seals Southern Elephant Seals Ross Seals Leopard Seals Crabeater Seals Antarctic Fur Seals

Population:800,000 individuals Location: Antarctic circumpolar Size:Up to 10 ft long Weight:up to 1000 pounds Diet: Fish, squid, & krill Habitat:Fast shelf ice near cracks and holes Weddell pups are born in colonies in September and October. Females give birth to one pup per year after reaching about six years of age. Mothers provide pups with a rich nourishing milk (up to 70% fat) allowing the pups to gain weight quickly. Weighing up to 60 pounds at birth, by the end of the nursing period (usually 6 to 8 weeks) they have gained as much as 200 pounds.

There are 8 different types in Antarctica ! Albatross Cormorant Antarctic Fulmar Kelp Gull Antarctic petrel Snowy Sheathbill South Polar Skua Arctic Tern

Population:Several thousand breeding pairs Location: Subantarctic Islands & Antarctic continent Wingspan:4 feet Weight:2 to 4 pounds Diet: Krill, squid, fish, eggs, chicks, & carrion Nests:Shallow depressions on the ground in sheltered locations The estimated lifespans of both South Polar and Antarctic skuas are approximately 11 years.

There are 8 different species of whales in Antarctica Blue whale Fin whale Humpback whale Minke whale Orca(killer)whale Sei whale Southern right whale Sperm whale

The population is around several hundred thousand. They are 25 to 30 feet long. These whales weigh an average 7 tons. The largest population of Orca whales seems to be in Antarctica where it is estimated some 160,000 animals range.

Krill are found in every ocean in the world. Krill eat algae and plankton then they take in nutrients that can be used by a variety of animals. Krill is a favourite food of humpback whales. Blue whales feed exclusively on these tiny krill. Krill are about an inch or two long. Blue whales can intake at least 4 tons of krill a day
