Nathaniel Branden “How we feel about ourselves crucially affects virtually every aspect of our experience, from the way we function at work, in love, in sex, to the way we operate as parents, to how high in life we are likely to rise.” “I cannot think of a single psychological problem that is not traceable to a poor self- concept.”

Nathaniel Braden Six Pillars of Self Esteem

“The Man in the Glass!!”

Self Esteem What it’s not! – It’s not a sometime thing, it’s all the time. – It’s not bragging (Today’s peacock, curl in the tail) – It’s not an illusion or an hallucination – It is not the euphoria or buoyancy that may be temporarily induced by a drug, a compliment or a love affair – It is not empty praise that bears no relationship to the athletes actual accomplishments.

Self Esteem What it’s not: (cont) - It is not being good looking, wealthy, or having many friends. Many of these people cannot get through a single day without drugs. - It is not 12 hugs a day at school. Kid still has to go home. Gets a false sense. - Nothing bothers you if you have high self esteem.
