PRIDE Enterprises Operates prison industries in the State of Florida correctional institutions 2 Mission: To teach job skills and develop work ethics that will enable inmate workers to become productive citizens upon release from incarceration

PRIDE Enterprises Profile Established by legislature in 1981 Jack Eckerd Governor Bob Graham 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Corporation Self funded-receives no tax funding Instrumentality of the state Operates 42 programs in 24 Facilities Worked 3562 inmates in 2013 PRIDE is not part of the Department of Corrections

Savings for the Taxpayers  $20,000 cost per year per inmate in state prison  Average sentence – 3 yrs  Savings of $60,000 per inmate for each ex- offender that does not return to state prison 8

Mission 2 Serve Security Goals through the reduction of idleness and providing incentives for good behavior. 9

Mission 3 Reduce cost of state government by operating enterprises primarily with inmate labor, which enterprises do not seek to unreasonably compete with private enterprise. 10

Mission 4 Simulate a real world working environment: to serve rehabilitative goals of the state by duplicating, as nearly as possible, the operating activities of a free- enterprise type of profit-making enterprise. 11
