T HE BIG LGBT COMMUNITY SPORTS QUIZ Whilst calculating the financial impact of civil partnerships in 2005, the UK Treasury calculated that 6% of people in this country are lesbian or gay. If bisexual and trans people are included, it is generally accepted that the percentage of the UK population who identify as LGBT is 8% TRUE or FALSE

A study by Sheffield Hallam University into “Tackling Homophobia & Transphobia in Settings Supporting Young People”, revealed in November 2011 that LGBT young people in several schools were being instructed to change for PE “in toilets and in other rooms located near to the regular changing facilities” TRUE or FALSE

Results from Sport England’s Active People Survey 5, 2011 show that LGB people are less likely to be involved in physical activity than their heterosexual counterparts. TRUE or FALSE

Research by the Carnegie Research Institute at Leeds metropolitan University (2011) into the experiences of lesbian coaches revealed that in some cases “ Lesbian coaches were deemed less skilled, assuming (gay) women coaches do not make sporting leaders” or were considered “paedophiles ” and “predators towards their athletes.” TRUE or FALSE

The England and Wales Cricket Board, recently commissioned Pride Sports to undertake research into lesbian & gay perceptions of & participation in cricket.
