The thesis statement tells what the subtopics are going to be or if you tie up the subtopics together, they will constitute the thesis statement. A thesis statement has two parts. Does my essay have a conclusion?   Open your books to page 53 and find out what to do if there is a problem with their essay. Read the draft you wrote and revise it using the table (books open).

As you listen to the presenter, you should check the boxes that apply in the Presentation Checklist. Use the rubric to rate the speaker’s presentation. Make any necessary corrections and modifications to your essays and then collect them to make a portfolio for an “Emirati Pride” competition file.

I BEYOND THE UNIT 1. On Assignment Imagine that you will be giving short oral presentations on Emirati cultural heritage to a group of foreign visitors.   Choose one of the three pictures or think of your own topic and get pictures for it. Remember: You need to follow the same steps (steps 1-4 in the writer’s workshop) you took to write the essay.

Remember: Read the sentences and underline the parts of each sentence. I BEYOND THE UNIT 2. Listen and Think Remember: Read the sentences and underline the parts of each sentence.
