The WebQuest is designed for junior high school students to learn about good manners and savoir vivre within the eTwinning project 'Family lab'. Duration: three weeks.

INTRODUCTION What are good manners? Do you behave according to them? In contemporary world deprived of values, knowledge of good manners by young people is highly desirable. Values such as: respect, tolerancy, honesty should be present in life and behaviour of every human being.

Tasks Do you like travelling? Would you like to go to a foreign country? Is your answer is ‘yes’, you should get to know rules obligatory in the European society in order not to be ‘an alien’. You can start your education on this theme by learning some social norms and savoir vivre rules obligatory in Poland as well as in other countries like: Britain, Spain or Germany (countries of our partner schools). Only well educated young people respecting good manners and living in accordance with them, are likely to achieve success in future personal and professional life.

You are supposed to collect the materials to create a PowerPoint presentation, video (Windows Movie Maker) or an album as well as a quiz or a crossword checking your classmates' knowledge after having studied your final product (the presentation, video or album). Try to select the materials and remember to use language which will be understandable for your mates. Remember! Perfect preparation prevents poor performance.

Describe how to greet in a particular country Describe good manners while eating Describe social manners (time, invitatations, dress) Describe appropriate behaviour at school Describe good manners in public places (cinema/theatre/musem/concert, means of transport, etc.) Mention about good manners while talking on the phone Specify good manners in accordance to women Write dos and don’ts (what to do and what not to do in order to behave properly)

2 6-8 points - poor 9-10 points - satisfactory points - well points – very well 15 points - excellent Evaluation The final evaluation is the sum of received points. Each group can get a maximum of 15 points. You will receive the following marks for the obtained number of points:

Linguistic corectness Points Numarous linguistic and spelling mistakes, lack of punctuation. Minor linguistic and spelling mistakes. High linguistic corectness, the materials almost without mistakes.
