Christmas in Camelot Author: Mary Pope Osborne Date /year pub. October 2001 Genre: Time travel fiction By Justin Pham Per.6

The story takes place in Camelot. The main characters live in a regular house, like the houses we live in. Camelot is a town with villagers and a castle with Knights, a king, and a queen. The story takes place during Christmas time so it is a snowy setting.

The two main characters are Jack and Annie. Jack has dark brown hair and wears glasses. Annie is Jack’s sister and she has light brown hair. I describe them both as courageous, dependable, and determined.

The problem is that the Dark Wizard has casted a spell over the kingdom and robbed Camelot’s joy. The three knight haven’t come back, so Jack and Annie has to go to the Otherworld to recapture Camelot’s joy. On the way there they will have to collect a cloak, cup, compass, and a key. They will have to use these items in order to recapture Camelot’s joy back. On the way to get it back they go through an iron gate, a dancing circle, and a dragon.

Jack and Annie find a way to defeat the four real Keepers of the Cauldron by imagining them going back into their holes. Then they bring the Water of Memory and Imagination back to Camelot along with the three knights that have been missing. Camelot gets their joy back and they can celebrate Christmas again.

My opinion of the book was that it was good except that the book had moved to one setting after the other. Also Jack and Annie never really had to think about their problems. Other than that it was a good book.

After Mary Pope Osborne graduated from college she lived in a cave. She was scared by many things like spiders, bugs, and going into the ocean. She had lived in Oklahoma, Australia, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia by the time she was 15. She loved religion and majored in it so she could learn about different cultures. After college she traveled to over 15 Asian countries with her friends.

How did you react when reading about what happened to the knights? What did Jack and Annie find first? Where did Jack and Annie go? What did you think happened to the knights, when you first read about them? Did you think that Morgan sent the letter to go to Camelot?

Christmas in Camelot is about two kids Jack and Annie who is sent to Camelot to enjoy Christmas. The letter is sent by who they think is Morgan. They go to Camelot and find out that the Dark Wizard stole Camelot’s joy. So they don’t get to celebrate Christmas unless someone goes to the Otherworld to recapture the joy. So Jack and Annie decide that they will go to the cauldron to get the Water of Memory and Imagination.
