Biography Alfred Stieglitz was born on January 1 st in Hoboken, New Jersey In 1883 Stieglitz develops his first photograph. In 1887 he wins his first prize for “A Good Joke” from the magazine Amateur Photographer. In 1891 he joins the society of Amateur Photographer. In 1893 Stieglitz marries Emmeline Obermeyer, his business partner’s sister. On September 27, 1898 his daughter Katherine was born. In 1924 Stieglitz divorces Emmeline and marries Georgia O’Keeffe.
What made Alfred Stieglitz famous? Stieglitz became famous after first photos won competition. Were printed in a magazine in Europe, in the summer of 1886.
Did Stieglitz do art, documentary, advertising, etc.? His only true focus was artistic photography. –Work shown at the first International Salon at the Photo Club of Paris. –Opened The Little Galleries of the photo-secession, later known as “291”. –Work has been shown at The Museum of Modern Arts.

Did you find anything interesting about his work? Why? What I though was interesting about Alfred Stieglitz’s work is that he was able to get the lighting in his pictures just right.Alfred Stieglitz’s work inspires me. I really like the angle his camera was for some of his shots.
