Results (We received a lot of joke responses to our questionnaire, and we have not included these in the results) Question 3: Have you ever bought anything because of a TV advert? Most people have bought something because of a TV advert Question 4: If so, why? Cute teddies The quality of the advert. The product was the iPhone, I find that Apple's adverts are always so well done. The high quality photos and footage in the advert made me want one. I think I've tried food because of adverts, and it's because the food looked tasty. It was 89p! t's made to look amazing It was a product that did what I wanted Because a celebrity endorsed it It was endorsed by my favorite celebrity There was a wide range of answers here. Two people mentioned celebrity endorsement and someone also mentioned the price.

Results (We received a lot of joke responses to our questionnaire, and we have not included these in the results) Question 5: Are there any adverts that you dislike? Go compare Rimmel London Compare the market Childrens toys Go Compare Go Compare Direct line Hair removal ads Skittles Go compare Go Compare EE Confused.com Informaticals Bingo Music Magpie Safestyle Windows Rimmel London Wowcher Argos Bingo one We buy any car.com Go compare Colgate Argos advert Most makeup adverts The most mentioned advert here was the Go Compare advert. Question 6:Why do you dislike these adverts? Annoying Annoying and inane I feel that they create more gender stereotypes and channel children into liking certain toys because of their gender. Noisy and annoying Bore me Annoying Irritating and Innapropriate I felt that they talked down to me they gave me the impression that they were targeted at unintelligent people Annoying songs Repetitive Most people mentioned that the adverts were annoying

Results (We received a lot of joke responses to our questionnaire, and we have not included these in the results) Question 7: What makes an advert memorable? Cute things Music or a catch phrase or joke A catchy song and cute characters Puppies, cute animals, good jokes, food. Humour, something unique A catchy tune, maybe a cute animal. Honesty, simplicity so you actually know what they are advertising They are memorable if they are unique and funny catchy music. excitement and humour A catch frase or song, so a hook that gets stuck in your head. Also a funny advert can be very memorable Cute animals like the horse dancing one Hot people and cute animals A catchy song Most people mentioned cute animals and a catchy song Question 8: Which of these advert types are the most memorable Most people want to watch a funny advert

Results (We received a lot of joke responses to our questionnaire, and we have not included these in the results) Question 9: Which of these advert types is your least favorite? Most people dislike over the top adverts Question 10: What is your opinion on TV adverts Some are good, but most are annoying I could happily do without them but I know they find the programmes we watch so better than paying even more for tv. When they're popular (for good or bad reasons) they can create talking points, which I think is a really good thing. Certain TV adverts can make someone's day and that's something that's quite lovely. They're good for finding out about new products I tend to use advertisments as a loo break or for coffee They get annoying Too many long-windedl adverts that you sometimes wonder what they are advertising. I prefer short funny adverts. Adverts can be beneficial if they are informative and current some of them are good but most of them are just time consuming and annoying. It is a very good way of influencing a target market to buy your product or services There were a range of responses here

Analysis A lot of people said they like the Cadbury's gorilla and the Compare the Market Advert. This could be because they have animals in them and they're funny, or it could be because they’re the most memorable. If someone enjoys an advert but can’t remember it then they won’t write it down. Most people have bought something because of a TV advert and this proves that adverts can be successful People did not like adverts like the Go Compare advert because they were annoying, they also didn't’t like adverts that were too long. People liked Funny and Surreal adverts however they did not like Over the Top adverts. If an advert is annoying this will put people off the product, however it does make the advert more memorable. People like an advert with catchy music. From this information, we have decided that for our adverts we will: - Make it surreal or funny - Include a catchy song but not any song that is irritating - Not make our advert too long - Make it clear what the advert is advertising Whilst making this questionnaire we received a lot of joke answers and this made it hard to judge how valid and accurate the information is. If we were to do it again we would get a lot more responses so if we did have any joke answers the results wouldn't’t make as much of an impact.
