CHAT You can use the chat window just like other instant messaging to chat with other students or ask me questions. I try my best to keep up with the chat. Type your message. Press “enter” or “return” to send. Remember, that unless you’re sending a message to a specific person, the whole room can see what you write.

RAISING YOUR HAND You can “raise your hand” to ask a question or make a comment. I’ll be able to see in which order Click the little hand to raise your hand. Your number will appear.

POLLING I’ll use polling to ask you short answer questions occasionally. Sometimes your answer will appear. Sometimes I will just post the answers to the Whiteboard. Hover your mouse over the checkbox to choose “Yes” or “No”. For multiple choice, an “a” image like this will appear in the same place as the arrow.

LET’S PRACTICE 1.Do you agree that summer vacation is too short? Click the green check mark for yes. Click the red X for no. Hover your mouse over the checkbox to choose “Yes” or “No”.

LET’S PRACTICE Pick your favorite math joke a. Why don’t plants like math? It gives them square roots. b. What geometric figure is a like a lost parrot? The polygon. c. Do you know a statistics joke? Probably, but it’s mean. d. What do you get if you divide the circumference of a jack-o-lantern by the diameter? Pumpkin pi. e. Write your own joke in the chat window.

WHITEBOARD In your breakout rooms, you can draw on the Whiteboard yourselves using the tool bar. The tools work similar to tools in Powerpoint. Select an object Pointer (can select different pointers) Pen or highlighter Insert textbox Solid box or circle Outline box or circle Takes a screenshot of your desktop Lines or arrows Insert clipart or symbols

POINT TO THE STATE WHERE YOU FIRST STARTED TEACHING OR LIST THE COUNTRY IN THE CHAT

BREAKOUT ROOMS Right now, we are in the Main Room. During most classes, we will also use Breakout Rooms where you can work in small groups. All the features of the main room are available in Breakout Rooms – video, audio, whiteboard. 1.I can create rooms to which you will be assigned and whisked away automatically – a breakout room will open. 2.I will send an announcement which will pop up warning you when you’re about to be out of time OR you’ll have a timer. 3.I can pull you back into the Main Room.

SELF-SELECTING BREAKOUT ROOMS Or, I will create breakout rooms and you can decide where you want to go. Just drag your name into the room you’d like to visit. Once you’re in a room, you can change rooms or come back to the Main Room the same way. Let’s practice…..
