Nazi Propaganda Aviel Menter Jean Kim

Introduction  Nazi Propaganda Committee was headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels  Nazis used propaganda to teach hatred of the Jews, and reverence for Hitler  Everybody was the target audience for Nazi Propaganda: children, business owners, normal adults etc.  Posters like this one would show Jews as ugly, rude, and a danger to society.

Lying about treatment of the Jews  The Nazis published a movie in the Theresienstadt Ghetto about how well the Jews were supposedly being treated.  After the filming of the movie, most of the Jews were deported to the Auschwitz death camp, and killed in gas chambers.  Many Jews in death camps were forced to write postcards home, telling their family members that they were being treated well, when in fact they were being fed terribly and killed by the thousands.

Nazi Propaganda and Children  By the year 1937, 97% of all German school teachers were part of the Nazi Teacher’s Union.  The Nazis published schoolbooks to teach small children hatred of the Jews and love for Hitler.  Books like The Poisonous Mushroom would teach children that Jews were subhuman, greedy animals.

Propaganda In The Media  Hitler published his propaganda in books, art, theatre, movies, and tried to insert it into every aspect of a German citizen’s life.  In 1926, Hitler published a book called Mein Kamph, which taught anti-Semetism, and preached all of Hitler’s ideas about any non-Aryan.  Movies such as The Eternal Jew depicted Jews as greedy, disgusting animals, tainting German culture.  Other movies were created to teach love of Hitler, such as The Triumph of Will.

Conclusion  Nazis would use any instrument they could to incorporate hatred of Jews and love for Hitler into every aspect of a German citzen’s life.  Joseph Goebbels, head of the Nazi Propaganda Committee, would portray Jews as a stain on German society.  Nazi propaganda drove millions of people to stand by and watch the destruction of over half of the European Jewish population.
