Welcome to First Grade with Mr. Doody Room 11

About Mr. Doody 8 th year teaching. (first and second grade) Married with 2 daughters: Maeve and Addison.

More About Mr. Doody Mom, Dad, Step Dad, 1 sister, 3 step sisters. I work a few days each week at Red Robin. I love to golf and watch the Bills and Sabres play. I bowl on Thursday nights. I will ALWAYS treat you with respect and I expect you do the same to ALL others.

What do I do when I come in to the classroom each morning? 1. Put your things away in your locker (lift and pull). 2. Turn in any notes into the tray on my table. 3. Sign up for lunch on the Interwrite board. 4. Answer the question of the day (near rug). 5. Follow the directions for the day on the Interwrite board. 6. When the bell rings, come over to the rug quietly.

Classroom Rules Each of you will have a mountain climber. Your climber can move up (good behavior) or down (poor choices). Once we have classroom rules, we will start using the climbers. The color that you end up on at the end of the day will be the color you put in your agenda to take home. If you end on green or blue you will get to participate in our end of the day activity. Monday – Game Tuesday – Race outside, snowball toss, prize bin Wednesday – Basketball Shot Thursday – Golf putting Friday – Dance Party

If you do end on yellow or red you WILL NOT participate in the afternoon activity. Also, yellow days will be 5 minutes off outside time and red days will be 10 minutes off. If you do end on blue (extra effort, helping others), you will take home a special certificate.

Group Plan Every school day when at least 21 students end the day on green or blue, we will add a paper clip to our chain. If we have all 23 students on green or blue, we will add 2 paperclips. Once the chain reaches the ground, you’ve won an EXTRA special prize! If someone does not end on green or blue, let’s try our best to help them make it the next day!

Classroom Jobs: There will be classroom jobs that you will do at the beginning/end of each day. Please do your job and keep OUR classroom looking good. Snack: We will have snack everyday. Please bring something from home each day (or bring a big snack for the week). Book Bins: We have books all over our classroom! When you take a book, please return it to the SAME bin you took it from. Also, please treat MY books with respect. Popsicle Sticks: Everyone has a popsicle stick in our class mug. When we come to the rug, the popsicle stick puller will choose names for the chairs. NO COMPLAINING.

Bathroom: When you need to use the bathroom, please raise your hand with your pointer finger up. When I see you, I will either give you a nod (which means you can go) or shake my head no (which means you need to wait a minute). You will go to the bathroom 1 boy or girl at a time and you need to take the bathroom pass with you. No one should use the bathroom more than 3 times per day.

Drinking Fountain: If you need a drink, get one (by the sink). If you don’t need one, don’t get one. Please bring a water bottle and then this will never be a problem. Pencil Sharpening: You have a lot of pencils at your desk. If one breaks or the tip gets dull, put it in the cup with unsharpened pencils over by the calendar. The pencil sharpening person will sharpen all pencils at the end of each day.

Lining Up: You will line up in two lines every time we leave the classroom, except for lunch. When you leave for lunch, you will line up in single file with buyers first. Usually we will have a boys and girls line but sometimes it may change.

To get your attention Mr. Doody might… 1.Clap his hands – you clap back. 2.Say “If you can hear my voice clap once.” 3.Ring the bell. When you hear it, stop what you are doing are look at me for directions.

What do I do at the end of each day? 1. Write your homework in your agenda planner. 2. Put your correct dot in your agenda planner. 3. Get your agenda checked by Mr. D or student. 4. Get papers from your mailbox. 5. Pack up your book bag and get jacket. 6. Head to your seat and show me you are ready. 7. I’ll give out any blue day awards and paper clip. 8. We’ll have our afternoon fun!
