Martha’s GREAT Faith! §John 11:21 – “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” §22 – “I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” §24 – “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” §27 – “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God,....”

Spiritual & Physical §John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection & the life [spiritual] He who believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [spiritually]. 26 And whoever lives [physically] & believes in Me shall never die [spiritually].

Physical Death & Life §Physical death occurs when the spirit leaves the body (Jas 2:26). §Physical life occurs when the spirit inhabits the body (Ecc 12:7; Zech 12:1).

Spiritual Death §Spiritual death occurs when the spirit leaves the presence & fellowship of God. l Gen 2:16-17; Eph 4:17-19; Isaiah 59:1-2; cf. Ezek 18:20; Rom 6:23; Jas 1:14-15

Jesus Proved He Is Life! §Jesus proved in the physical realm what He is in the spiritual realm l “Bread of life” (John 6:35) l “Light of the world” (John 9:5) l “Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43-44). l “Destroy this temple, & in three days I will raise it up” (John 2:18-19).

What This Means To Us §We can GRIEVE in hope, when a faithful Christian dies (1 Thess 4:14, 16-17). §We can face DEATH with hope, when our time comes (Heb 6:13-20). §We can face LIFE with hope (Phil 4:5; 1 Pet 3:12; 1 Pet 1:3-4; John 10:10; Heb 8:1- 2; 1 Tim 2:5; 1 John 2:1; Rom 8:34).

“Do You Believe This?” §John 11:21 – Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died” §John 11:32 – When Mary came where Jesus was, & saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”

“Do You Believe This?” §Luke 7:6, 7, 9 – The centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. “Do You Believe This?” §Jesus is ABLE to rule the universe from Heaven. l Matt 28:18; Eph 1:20-23; 1 Pet 1:22 §Jesus is ABLE grant spiritual life from Heaven to those who obey Him. l John 11:25-26; Heb 5:9; Mark 16:16

Jesus is also the resurrection! § Col 3:1-4 – If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
