Courage To Conquer

1 Samuel 17:36-37 "Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God." Moreover David said, "The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!"

Where Did David Get His Courage Emphasis on the human side first. Emphasis on the divine side most (17:37,45-47). From his faith in the immutability of God. From his faith that he along with God was sufficient for the task.

What Are Some "Giants" You And I Must Face? The "giant" of…  Family opposition (Matt. 10:34-39).  Peer pressure.  Criticism.  The courage to dream.  Trials and troubles of everyday life (Job 14:1; Jas. 1:2ff).  False religion (2 Cor. 10:3-6).  Facing your own Mortality(Heb.2:14,15).

Where Can We Get The Courage To Face Our "Giants"? Stressing the human element first. Recognizing the divine side most. Firmly believing in the immutability of God. (Rom. 8:28,29). Realizing our sufficiency is from God (Phil. 4:13; 2 Cor. 3:5; 12:7-10).

Why Do We Need To Develop Our Courage So your life can make a difference for good. So you can always be on the winning side...Rom. 8:31,32. For the glory of God and for the salvation of His people (1 Sam. 17:45-47).

Courage Is… Doing the right thing even though you may be shaking in your boots.
