Linear Perspective Assignments 1. Draw the outside of the school, looking towards the west. 2. Draw the hallway of our school. 3. Pick and draw from one photograph of a New York City building.

Outside drawing of Truckee High School This is a class activity. If you are on an Independent Study you will have to find the time to do this either before or after your trip. Start with the double point perspective formula as we did in class in our introduction to linear perspective. The following slide gives some hints to begin.

Hints for drawing THS Ask yourself “Where is your eye level in relationship to the building?”

Hints for drawing THS Ask yourself “Where is your eye level in relationship to the building?”

Hints for Drawing THS Check with your ruler and ask yourself which lines of the building are converging?”

Hints for Drawing THS Check with your ruler and ask yourself which lines of the building are parallel?”

Hints for Drawing THS Check with your ruler and ask yourself which lines of the windows and doors are parallel?”

Hints for Drawing THS Check with your ruler and ask yourself which lines of the windows and doors are converging?”

Interior Room

Drawing THS Hallway Begin with a simple single point perspective drawing of a room as we did in our introduction lesson by starting with a square and the vanishing point in the middle.

Hints for Drawing the Hall of THS Is the hall a true square or a rectangle?

Hints for Drawing the Hall of THS In your square or rectangle, begin with converging lines going from each corner to the opposite diagonal corner, giving an “X”

Hints for Drawing the Hall of THS »LOCKERS With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the lockers are parallel? With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the lockers are converging?

Hints to Drawing the Hall of THS Doors With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the doors are parallel? With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the doors are converging?

Hints to Drawing the Hall of THS With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the lights are parallel? With your ruler eye sight and ask yourself which lines of the lights are converging?

What is at the end of the hall?

What about the piers? Or how about if a door is opened?

Drawing a New York Scene Examples Pick one of the photographs from either the teacher’s collection or if you are on Independent Study down load one from the examples found on the Power Point Presentation “Linear Perspective of New York City” Pick something that you might be interested in adding to your Fantasy Drawing. Your drawing will be easier if you keep it the same size of image that you are copying from.
