About him Vasco da Gama is a Portuguese sailor and was the Euorpean to find a sea route to India.

The ships were Sao Gabriel, Sao Rafael, Berrio, and the Starship. Sao Rafael is the flagship.Vasco’s brother Paulo, commanded the ship Sao Rafael.

Vasco da Gama’s 1 st voyage When Vasco da Gama set out on July 8, 1497 that was his first voyage. He was equipped with four ships.

Vasco landed in Calicut, India. The year and date was May 20,1498.
