Many firms follow a compromise policy, balancing several factors. The compromise policy suggests that one should: Avoid rejecting +NPV projects to pay a dividend Avoid cutting dividends Avoid issuing new equity Maintain target debt/equity ratio Maintain target dividend payout ratio
