DESCRIPTION  Flextek is a bi-fuel converter (for cars originally operated with gasoline) which guarantees more economy and freedom of choice when filling up your car.  Installed through connectors, with no wire cuts or any other mechanical alterations, Flextek keeps the originality of your vehicle. RECOMENDATIONS  1. Fuel Filter and Oil Filter We recommend you to have your oil and fuel filters replaced just after you have run 1000 km in a vehicle with Flextek. The replacement is required because alcohol presents a cleaning property in relation to gasoline impurities left in the engine. Consequently, impurities removed by alcohol will be automatically taken into the filters and also into fuel pump. 2. Fuel Pump Before installation it is necessary to have your gasoline pump checked by a professional from any AGE – Intelligent Technology authorized mechanic workplace. Regarding to alcohol cleaning property of the engine, the pump might be in good conditions for its good functioning with alcohol.

COLD START COLD START  Procedures for cold start 1. Using cold start requires that the vehicle might be turned off time enough for the temperature engine lowering (below 50ºC) and having Flextek selector key in position A (alcohol). Having the engine off, you might turn the car key to position ON without starting the engine and waiting for approximately 3 (three) seconds. The vehiclemight then be started normally without having the key returned to position OFF. 2. In case your car does not start after this first try, repeat procedure 1 for more 2 (two) times. 3. If in the third try the engine does not work, you may start the car normally with no need of waiting for 3 (three) seconds. 4. If there is no functioning, repeat steps 1 to 3 until the engine starts adequately. Notes: - This procedure might not be executed if the engine is in high temperature, what could make the starting more difficult (e.g. starting the car with the engine hot). - Cold start will not be effective if the fuel selector key is in position G (gasoline) Starting the vehicle with a hot engine In case the vehicle engine is already hot and the fuel selector key is in position A (alcohol), the car key should not be kept for more than 2 (two) seconds in position ON without starting the engine. This procedure is to avoid the excess of fuel injection in the engine  that would make the start more difficult. If the selector key is in position G (gasoline), the start should be done normally, with no waiting time.

SPARK PLUGS AND INJECTIONS PLUGS  With Flextek installation, there is no need to change original spark plugs to those projected for alcohol. Original spark plugs work on normally with alcohol use and also with mixtures without causing any kind of miss or damage to the engine. On the other hand, spark plugs for alcohol may have problems whether using mixtures or even gasoline as fuel. It is not necessary to change the original injection plugs for Flextek installation, because the alcohol grade present in the original gasoline varies according to existent governmental rule. Therefore the injection plugs are designed to perform high resistance in relation to alcohol. ENGINE The use of alcohol does not damage the engine: it has not been observed corrosion or deterioration, which are much more frequent while using gasoline. In fact, it is possible to notice that the use of alcohol increases the engine lifetime, because in this case there is no contamination of the lubricating oil. In addition, alcohol combustion is smoother and this may reduce the friction between the engine pieces and consequently the deterioration is reduced as well. Spark plugs, piston heads and valves are also benefited with a major refrigerating power from alcohol. In old cars, the carburetors would suffer a considerable deterioration when working with alcohol and this would affect the engine functioning. These days, apart from the non- usage of this system, the injection system is projected to resist to alcohol considering that it takes part in a percentage of the gasoline produced in Brazil.

FUEL PUMP AND FILTER  There is a huge variety of fuel pumps in the market, some are more resistant than others in relation to alcohol usage and for this reason we recommend the analysis of your fuel pump by a qualified professional, who will identify whether there is the need of replacement of your pump for another one, which works with alcohol.  The possible replacement of the fuel pump does not damage your vehicle and this will be working perfectly with both fuels without any deterioration.  It is not necessary to change the original filter for Flextek installation.  Even so, an anticipation of the first change of filters after conversion may be necessary in some cases, considering there is a tendency that the alcohol releases the gasoline impurities held in the fuel tank.

COMPRESSION RATE / FUEL  It is not necessary to alter the original compression rate of the vehicle with the Flextek installation.  Although original alcohol engines present a higher compression rate than the ones which operate with gasoline, Flextek converter has got a system that may compensate automatically the difference between the rates.  Using Flextek, you will be able to fill up your tank with alcohol, gasoline (or a mixture of both), since there is no modification in these fuels.  We recommend that fuel consumption should be taken in to account, according to what is suggested by the manufacturer, improving this way the utilization of the product and avoiding any damage.

POLARITY / CAR QUALITY There is a few series of cars that leave factory with the polarity of the connector terminal with the injection plug reversed. The AGE – Intelligent Technology always recommends that before Flextek installation, the terminals polarity should be verified.  For cases with reversed polarities, AGE presents solutions on adaptation for different models.  We recommend a previous vehicle check that may be done by a trustful professional to evaluate the mechanical conditions before having the Flextek installed.
