Regional Water Conservation Program Update EAHCP Implementing Committee October 17, 2013

Section of the EAHCP Requires the EAA to: − −Conserve 20,000 ac-ft/yr of Edwards Aquifer withdrawals − −One-half of the conserved water (10,000 ac-ft) will be committed to remain in the Aquifer unpumped Establishes “Initial Commitments” − −Allows for the understanding that it will take time to achieve 20,000 ac-ft of conservation and initially water in the program will be loaned from participating entities to realize an immediate benefit

Initial Commitments as of 10/16/2013 EntityAcre Feet of Water SAWS8,000 City of San Marcos300 Texas State University100 TOTAL8,400 ac-ft

RWCP Elements and Criteria EAHCP will provide conservation funding in exchange for reduction of Edwards PermitEAHCP will provide conservation funding in exchange for reduction of Edwards Permit –For every 2 ac-ft conserved, a Edwards permit is reduced by 1 ac-ft –For Exempt Well users, there is no reduction of permit but 100% of conservation will be credited by USFWS 1.Lost Water and Leak Detection 2.High Efficiency Plumbing 3.Large-Scale Commercial/Industrial Retrofit 4.Water Reclamation
