Renewable Energy Program Examples Rebates: Atlanta Braves will install solar PV system at Turner Field. Renewable Energy BFI Waste Systems will install a one-MW solar energy cover at the Hickory Ridge Landfill in DeKalb County. Electric Cities of GA will install solar PV, solar thermal, and wind energy systems at various municipal facilities. Lanier Technical College will install solar PV / SHW to use for NABCEP training. 8

Energy Efficiency Program Examples Commercial Efficiency: Appalachian Community Enterprises, Inc will provide technical & financial assistance for small businesses to improve energy efficiency. Industrial Efficiency Association of Energy Engineers will provide Certified Energy Manager Training. Residential Efficiency Southface to provide design training sessions for builders, trade contractors, real estate agents and appraisers throughout state. 9

Overview of EECBG GEFA received $21.6 million in EECBG funds which have been allocated amongst four activity areas. This represented a new funding opportunity for GEFA, as well as for local government recipients.

Local Government Grants (EECBG) $ 13,300,000 available for local governments that did NOT receive formula funding from U.S. DOE Based on population: Cities < 35,000 Counties < 200,000 Larger cities and counties were allocated funding directly from USDOE. 86 applications totaling $24 million in funding requests, Funds can be used for various energy efficiency and conservation activities, as defined by USDOE Funding decisions to be announced end of March.

Utility On-bill Financing 14 $5,000,000 available as grants. Eligibility limited to energy utilities. 100% of funds must be allocated towards one or more of following residential energy-efficiency incentive programs: On-bill loan On-bill tariff Interest rate buy-down Eligible residential energy efficiency activities: Whole Home Performance with Energy STAR Energy STAR appliance upgrades Home weatherization

Georgia Cities Foundation Green Communities Fund (GCF2) 15 $2,000,000 grant to Georgia Cities Foundation. Provide low interest loans for energy efficiency improvements for commercial and residential buildings in downtown areas of Georgia cities. Expansion of pre-existing revolving loan fund program. Eligible activities limited to energy efficiency improvements.

State Retrofit Program: Status ActivityDescriptionStatus Measurement & Verification (pre-) Based on guidance from the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocal (IPMVP), recipients must submit M&V plans to GEFA for approval before expending funds. 13 submitted 6 approved Design Assistance GSFIC and Regents project managers are coordinating design work as needed. Multiple Installations GSFIC will coordinate non-university system procurements but contracts will be w/ GEFA. Regents will coordinate university system procurements based on each institution’s delegated spending authority. Macon State College Measurement & Verification (post-) GEFA will approve post-installation M&V results. N/A 22
