Colonial Armor and weaponry A Chris Rivera production

Part 1: the settlers Guns were the most used weapons of the colonial times. Muskets and rifles were used for long range and for regular battles. Mounted officers used pistols. Pistols were very accurate close range. Ammunition was often made of lead.

Melee weapons were also used. Some weapons like the halberds were used for decoration and to signify ranks. Swords were also used but mostly to give orders in battle and to signify ranks as well.

Here are some weapons

Part 2: The Natives The natives made all weapons by hand. Stone, wood, and antlers made tools. The Natives used all parts of the animal The antlers made good tools. Clubs were sometimes made of antlers and and also were used for flint knapping. Arrowheads were flint Knapped of stone. Flint knapping was a very hard and delicate procedure used to knock off parts of a stone to make an arrowhead.

The Bow The bow was the main weapon for long range. The bow was very useful for surprise attacks because it was silent unlike the muskets the colonists used. The bow was carved from wood. They used all tools they could such as an axe and hammer. The bows ammunition was the arrow also made from wood. Before the settlers they used stone arrowheads. Later on the settlers traded metals that were made into arrowheads. Arrows had the name of the family carved into it to show which arrow was used to kill the game.

Other weapons The tomahawk was a weapon and a pipe. It was a type of club that was used to hack the enemy and could later be used as a pipe. Spears were a long stick with a point on the end. These could be used as a melee weapon or as a range weapon. This could be used to stab or throw.
