The Outreach Auction of CUC and its committee members are dedicated to supporting Bergen County non-profit organizations that fulfill basic life needs. All proceeds from the auction go to local charities. The auction is an annual event calling upon members, friends and visitors of CUC for support. Mission Statement
Charities Supported by CUC Outreach Auction Bergen County Sanctuary Committee – Serves as a sponsor organization for people who have applied for political asylum, providing humanitarian support and advocacy. Center for Food Action – Provides food & homelessness prevention assistance at 5 locations in our area. Family Promise of Bergen County - Provides shelter for families, walk-in dinners for 120 people daily, transitional housing, etc. Habitat For Humanity of Bergen County – Builds homes for first time homeowners who might not otherwise be able to afford to purchase a home. Holley Childcare & Development Center – A 55 bed residential treatment facility serving children 5 to 12 years old, who are emotionally handicapped through abuse, neglect, poverty, abandonment or other circumstances. Outreach Angels – A volunteer organization dedicated to easing the daily burdens of AIDS & HIV victims. Shelter Our Sisters – A safe haven for abused women & their children. Table-To-Table – NJ’s first & only food rescue program delivers unused & leftover food that would normally be discarded to agencies that need it to feed the hungry. Teaneck National Guard Family Assistance Center – Provides assistance to the more than 500 families in northern NJ affected by mobilization or deployment of family members
History & Background Attendance at Auction sponsored by Heart & Soul Foundation of All Souls Church in NYC Commitment to social justice with established relationships with local charities In 2000, started with 5 charities and raised $9,000 through live and tricky tray auction In 2009, included 9 charities and raised $39,000 with live and tricky auctions Since 2000, Auction has raised $191,000

Check Out Schedule of auction items is provided to each participant before they leave Request payment at the end of the evening through personal checks or credit cards Credit card payments may be done online to ensure authorization
Distribution of Funds Have dedicated checking account for the Auction All funds from the live auction, ticket sales, and 50/50 are tallied Each charity receives funds raised for their requested item and 1/9 of remaining funds Checks are in the mail within 3 weeks following the auction
Loving the Moment Congregation is thrilled to learn final results at Sunday Service following the Auction – a true feel-good moment for the whole community Monthly item in newsletter featuring each charity and the money that was raised Representatives from each charity were invited to attend Standing on the Side of Love service in February
