Jersey Triathlon Club 2014 – Member Survey

It’s a great club, lots of great people. Always makes me happy to go to a local race and have such a good bunch of people there. The main event was also really good this year, the run around the marina was a much better course. We are riding on Saturdays, all are welcome. Might be good to get a few groups going on this and make it a more widely publicised thing? Having had a virtual washout to the whole of the last year due to my failing body, I can only really comment as a bystander, onlooker and marshal. It seems numbers competing has grown this year, the club social media is particularly supportive of new players and this support is evident at events. The club is friendly and inclusive and from my experience "clique free". Making sure that this quality in the club is recognised is particularly important in attracting, and keeping, the rubbish, recreational, old timer athletes like me! There seems to be a lot more people (older as well as youngsters) looking to take up Triathlon. (Done a Marathon and need a new challenge?) I suspect that numbers entering will grow and the local main event will become much bigger. That will bring challenges as well as opportunities. Would also like to see a half and full Iron Man event as part of the season if at all possible. The event this year, my first, was superb. Well organised and a pleasure to take part in, even for us back markers :-) Full results to also show age group placings a club league also to be in age groups Early season local training sessions for all disicplines with experienced coaches, e.g Nick Saunders, not expected to be free or subsidised, but charged at a reasonable/afordable fee. I used to do some races 15 plus years ago but I only started again this year to see if I enjoyed it so not a member (yet). It was really the off road duathlon that got me inspired to race again, even though I couldn't make it to that race. Would be interested in more coordinated training and off island events but time always an issue. Really impressed with the junior section. Really enjoyed racing this year so thank you. Doing a great job, and the club really seems alive Hate the early starts !! Could include some TT events Swim training should be more technique based with separate conditioning sessions. Tri club Van? More Club Kit at a reasonable price ? More club training sessions ? Love the idea of coordinated club events off island. Chantilly was great this year with juniors and seniors. Though the 2up duathlon was a great race & maybe we should have one sometime in the first part of the year as well. Also the team event including all the junior's was really good & the kids were so proud to race with the seniors Club events such as the relays which involve both junior and senior sections of the club have been a fantastic way of integrating the different age groups and it is great way to encourage the juniors. It would be good to try and incorporate the juniors on the race day of the main event to give them the experience of competing on a bigger stage. Could we have age group classifications at the Olympic distance events Jersey Triathlon Club 2014 – Member Survey

1. Off Island I would like more club organized off island events. Particularly the AG qualifying events. Make people aware of them. 2. Early Bird Reward Perhaps as part as becoming a club member and paying up as an early bird you get a club running vest or similar to encourage people to pay up on time. Also helps promote the club at 10K, Half and Marathon events. 3. Take Notice Recognize achievements of our members to encourage others to perform and promote the club. E.g. UK, Euro and World Championship achievements. 4. Club League Great idea. Would this include duathlons or just triathlons? 5. Main Event At the main event the beer/food tent was too hard to reach for the public. Its a good place/time to promote the club and our achievements. Big Maggies bike check was good. We could maybe do a yearly raffle and draw the winning tickets on stage at the main event to raise club funds for off island events etc. Need to get marshal rota sorted out properly. It would be nice if competitors stayed till the last competitor finished, one way to keep them would to give spot prizes at end of race. Duathlon races could be done on a point system for age groupers as we did 12 or so years ago and gave prizes at end of the last race, as seniors, vets, super vets and vintage, and can help with this if you wish. Would like to thank Saran and Vaughan for all their hard work sorting out courses etc. Vaughan good idea for equipment but not to take to the mainland. Helping youth and junior age group competing abroad with funds for training and competing. This may include helping finding some form of sponsorship. Hi, I'm not a member of the Tri club at the moment due to work commitments but it's something I am looking to be involved with next year. Kind regards Daryl I was new to the club this season and joined with the aim of completing the main event this year. The support I received from so many people in the club was brilliant. The duathlons were a great way to build fitness but more importantly confidence. Everyone was encouraging and positive throughout. Something that might have been helpful at the beginning though would have been someone designated at the club who newbies can go to for basic advice re training etc. This sport can be quite intimidating and overwhelming when you start and although everyone is helpful you don't want to be taking up too much their time asking basic questions. Perhaps occasional newbie training sessions or even just a meeting for a group coffee to ask questions etc would be good. An event/s early in the season for newcomers would be great as would provide introduction plus allow new people to meet others who are newcomers and form some valuable relationships/ training partners. As a newcomer this season, I would have loved this. Interested in getting more involved in training/coaching Communication regarding coordinated trips to easily accessible off island events- great for team rapport- and would improve ability/ cost effectiveness of getting to events and increase opportunities to race more without having to hold more local events. Be good to coordinate more with France- and Rennes club and perhaps entice more of their members to come to our main event too. Triathlon relays have been a great way of introducing people to triathlon and also including the Juniors. Main event a huge success - well run- great for spectators on run course- I really think that all the races I attended this year have been very inclusive and great for any novices being able to dictate what distance they do and been made to feel very welcome no matter how far they race. Great job guys ;) Jersey Triathlon Club 2014 – Member Survey
