Tools Hand tools should be operated only after being properly trained how to use them Power equipment should only be used when another person is accompanying you which has also been properly trained

Equipment Tractors may only be operated by the student after the student has completed the tractor safety course Always be aware of moving parts and everything around you SHUT OFF ALL EQUIPMENT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FIX A PROBLEM

Electrical Shut off breaker prior to attempting to work on any problem When milking cows remember to shut off the electrical trainers Be aware of electrical sparks around dry feed and bedding

Floors, Doors, Exits Be aware that the floors will be slippery when when The exits are on all ends of the barn The overhead doors can be opened by pushing upwards

Chemical Hazards When handling sanitation acid use latex gloves When handling sanitation chlorinated soap use latex gloves and a gas mask If any of these chemicals gets on the skin find manager IMMEDIATELY! If any of these chemicals spills find manager IMMEDIATELY!

Ergonomic Hazards - Lifting When lifting more than 10 pounds – lift with your knees When lifting more than 50 pounds have at least one person help you When moving animals have another person help you to push or pull when needed

Infectious Diseases When drawing up an intervenes injection make sure that no air bubbles are in the syringe – the air bubble could kill the animal When working with any sick animal wear latex gloves and wash you hands after completion Any sick animal should be taken away from the rest of the animals in quarantine

Fire Fire extinguishers can be found in both equipment areas Find a manager IMMEDIATELY!!
