Here is the world. Can you see Africa?

The Gambia is the smallest main land country in Africa. It’s on the west coast. It is shown with a red arrow.

It is a long thin country 40 miles north and south of the river gambia.

Hello, Greetings from Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School, in The Gambia West Africa How are you all?

Hello, We are happy to be your friends. Our Head Teacher told us we are now twin with you guys. We are so excited.

Hello friends, This shows you the number of Boys and Girls in Grade 1 to 6. We are aged 7 to 13. As you guys can see we have many pupils in the school, 3,449 in total. And because there are not enough classes we come in two shifts. Some come in the morning and some in the afternoon.

Our classes are very dark and we use electricity during lessons. So that we can see clearly and understand well. We sit at benches – three to a bench. And there are about 50 pupil in every classroom.

Hi we are at the school tap. We use it to get drinking water and wash our hands. We also get water for the trees we are going.

Trees are important in a hot sunny place like Africa as they give you shade.

Hello friends, We have a mosque in the school. This is the entrance. The majority of us are Muslims so when is time for Prayers we go in.

My name is Fatou, Our toilets are divided in to two parts, one for the Boys and this one is for the Girls.

I am Lamin, Here is the school library. We sometimes go there for studies and also we borrow books to read.

We wonder what life is like for you in England. What is your school like? Do you have a school uniform like us.

We hope you will write to us soon and tell us all about yourselves. Bye for now.
