Using Comparative Words in Math When we compare objects in math we use words such as: long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest, tall, taller, tallest, and high, higher,highest.

Long, Longer, Longest The first alligator is long. The third alligator is longer. The second alligator is the longest.

Which alligator is the longest? Long, Longer, Longest Which alligator is the longest? The second alligator is the longest.

Short, Shorter, Shortest The first alien is short. The second alien is shorter. The third alien is the shortest.
