The Daily Five Daily Five is a literacy structure designed to increase your child’s reading and writing stamina. – Listen to Reading- Students use listening centers or computers to listen to a variety of text – Read to Self- involves working independently with books/texts – Read to Someone- involves working with a partner with books/texts – Word Work- includes any kind of activity to learn about words and letters including phonemic awareness and phonics skills – Work on Writing- students write and draw Parent Tip: Read to your child every day!

The sight word schedule will be sent home by your classroom teacher Two sight words per week starting next week Please help your child: recognize in text, write, and read their words Children will be assessed on their sight word knowledge Parent Tip: Help your child practice their sight words daily throughout the year. This will help them recognize words in text and will increase reading fluency as well as improve their writing..
