Background 670 million people live in rural areas in China; More then 70 % of rural households use solid fuel; Most biomass wastes are burnt in the field; Thermal efficiency of old traditional stove is only 12%; Old traditional stove emits much pollution; IAP causes 500,000 deaths per year in China. Now, There are 670 million people live in rural areas in China;and More then 70 % of rural households use solid fuel; About 15 years ago, some people just burn agricultural wastes in the field; they also keep some biomass like wood, straw for cooking in the old traditional stove, which the Thermal efficiency is only 12%; The Old traditional stove emits much pollution; It causes 500,000fifty thousond deaths per year in China.

Biomass Stove Supply Production and enterprise distribution of biomass stoves There are more than 300 manufacturers in china in 2013. most factories produce stoves Suitable for the local life styles. Production of biomass stoves in 2011 Enterprise distribution of biomass stoves in 2011 Source: Survey data from March 17 to May 14 in 2012

Biomass Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Center Biomass Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Center was founded in 2009, now there are 9 researchers and 17graduate students in the lab, we focus on renewable energy ,air pollution and energy saving.

Effect of moisture content of fuel on performance According to the test results, the increase of MC of fuel resulted in lower emission factors of CO and PM2.5. The effect were both statistically significant (p<0.05), although the effect became weaker at higher MC.

China Biomass Stove Carbon Trading Project

Carbon program development process Investigation Activity: 1)survey 2)kitchen performance test(KPT) 3)monitor indoor air pollution(IAP) Site: Xiaohu and Hedi village, Yu County Yangquan City, Shanxi province China we also do the project at Guizhou and Hubei province

Carbon program development process Survey KPT IAP Each household can save 2.1t coal, 15,134MJ energy and reduce 4tCO2 emissions during 8 months usage period. Thus small scale CDM project can be applied. Carbon finance can be used to subsidize residents. Before biomass stove 99% of rural households used coal with the amount of 3.15t per year. After biomass stove, most people no long used coal, which saved fuel cost and alleviate health problem. After biomass stove each kind of pollutions is reduced effectively with 47.1%CO, 30.07%PM2.5, almost 100%SO2. All data above is necessary for applying CDM project and can provide data support for seeking international funds.

The result shows that each household can save 1 The result shows that each household can save 1.79t coal and 16,141MJ energy per year with 7.6 months usage period of biomass stove. each household can save 1.79t coal per year with 7.6 months usage period of biomass stove. Biomass stove can both save fuel and cost and protect environment by reducing pollution emissions. Carbon finance can provide subsidy for stoves under CDM. Thus stove price is reduced and stove dissemination can be expanded, each of those stoves cost 600 RMB (100dollar)without this project, and now it cost 200RMB (33 dollars) This carbon finance project also keep going in Hubei and Guizhou province. Biomass stove can both save fuel and cost and protect environment by reducing pollution emissions. Carbon finance can provide subsidy for stoves under CDM. Thus stove price is reduced and stove dissemination can be expanded, which is beneficial to rural residents.
