Solubility: A glass of water with salt dissolved in it would be a mixture. Salt has a high solubility in water because it dissolves easily & makes a solution. The salt may be dissolved but it is still there. This is why it is a mixture! You can boil off the water and still have salt left over. If you put sand into a glass of water, it is considered to be a mixture, too. Sand has a low solubility level in water because the sand does not dissolve nor make a solution.

Filtration: To separate solid particles from a liquid.
Evaporation: To separate salt from water. The water will evaporate (change from a liquid into a gas) leaving the salt crystals behind.
