ePortfolio Tool Used by University of Tennessee Educators UT Educators have identified Learning Central as a excellent instrument for supporting students in the creation of ePortfolios In past years students have created their ePortfolios using a PowerPoint template Beginning in 2005, students have been using Learning Central to document their achievement in 9 areas that parallel accreditation requirements The Learning Central ePortfolio tool provides database compatible information that allows for intensive tracking of student achievement

Personal Learning Portal Learning Central provides a framework that can be customized for application within a community with diverse needs and in a manner that allows for branding and integration. It contains features including tools for communication within the user community.

ePortfolio Pages Each student has a home page that can be used as an introductory page to the ePortfolio. Artifacts may be uploaded and categorized. Student work and artifacts can be tagged in relation to requirements such as INTASC principles and concepts.

Surveys for Evaluation Students complete surveys as a form of self evaluation. Peer and instructor evaluation can also be incorporated into the learning environment.

Organization The system is organization friendly, providing tools for keeping artifacts in appropriate folder structures It provides internal rubric support that maintains healthy communication of expectations and goals.

Feedback Mechanisms When students are ready to receive feedback on work, they can flag the completed section and automatically notify instructors or other evaluators that the piece is complete and ready for evaluation.
