2 Chronicles 17:1-6, God blessed good king Jehoshaphat with a standing army of over one million soldiers! 2

2 Chronicles 18:1 With all that God had done for Jehoshaphat, yet he felt he needed to make an alliance with the House of Ahab! 3

What in the world did Jehoshaphat do? His practice of fellowship was his undoing, as it is today for many Christians that seek to make alliances with the devil, by maintaining fellowship with those who teach and practice error! 4

What in the world did Jehoshaphat do? He did the right things in the sight of God, and was loved by God, but he sought out and made alliances with the enemies of the Lord! James 4:4; 2 John 9-11 Philippians 3:18-19, “enemies of the Cross” 5

Let us consider what happened:  2 Chronicles 18:1, “by marriage he allied himself with Ahab.”  2 Chronicles 18:2-4, “I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.” “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.” 6

Let us consider what happened:  2 Chronicles 18:5-12, “Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?” “Let not the king say such things!”  2 Chronicles 18:13-17, “Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Why is Jehoshaphat still sitting there listening to this? 7

Let us consider what happened next:  2 Chronicles 18:18-24, “Zedekiah…went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said ‘which way did the spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?”  (And there sits Jehoshaphat watching all this evil taking place, but what does he say?) 8

Let us consider what happened next:  2 Chronicles 18:28-34, “I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes.” 9

2 Chronicles 19:1-3 “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?” 10

2 Chronicles 21:4-6 “And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife; and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.” 11

2 Chronicles 21:18-20 “He reigned in Jerusalem eight years and, to no ones sorrow, he departed” 12
