PITT COUNTY DEMOGRAPHICS Race/Ethnicity 58.9 % White 34.1% African Americans 5.5% Hispanic or Latino origin Poverty 25.5 % live below poverty level Fewer than one in four Pitt County adults eat the recommended five or more servings of fruits and vegetables daily More than one in four Pitt County adults eat fast foods four or more times per week Greenville is ranked #1 among United states cities with fast food density.

HEALTHY CORNER STORE BENEFITS Accessibility of fresh fruits and vegetables for underserved populations located in food deserts throughout Pitt County Support local farmers Nutrition Education/Taste Testing for customers Provides community support to the stores Economic improvements Building partnerships with owners and farmers
