Be subject to one another 5:22 Wives, submit to your husbands 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church & gave himself up for her 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord. 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters. 6:9 Masters, treat your slaves in the same way In these examples (from a different culture) Those in positions of power (Masters, Fathers, Husbands) are called to follow the example of Christ in loving their slaves, children and wives as he “gave himself up for the church” Those in positions of weakness (Slaves, Children and Wives) are called to show their trust in the goodness of God by submitting to those who exercise power for their good.
