Physical Characteristics  Burrowing owls are 10 inches long. Burrowing owls weigh 6 ounces. Burrowing owls have brown spotted feathers.

Lifespan Burrowing owls can live 9 years in the wild and 10 years in the zoo.

Eating Habits and Diet  Burrowing owls eat moles, mice, beetles, grasshoppers and reptiles.

Population  There are about 10,000 breeding pairs.

Habitat/Range  Burrowing owls live in the United States from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean.
