The human senses: Smell The sense of smell, called olfaction, involves the detection and perception of chemicals floating in the air.

Organ of smell: Nose

How sense of smell works?

Parts of the nose

The sense if smell is very strong and basic. Our sense of smell is capable of identifying seven types of sensations.

Our sense of smell also help us to recognize taste, it means they are connected.

The sense of smell is sometimes lost for a short time when a person has a cold.

Smell is the act of detecting chemical molecules in the air by sensitive nerves in your nose.

They send a signal to your brain telling it what kind of smell it is.

What may smell good to one person need not be the same for another.
