What is Imagery? Imagery involves one or more of the five senses. What are the five senses? Sight Sound Taste Touch Smell

Not Imagery The sun went down.

Sight Imagery Example As the sun became a bright ball of orange, the sky surrounding it quickly splintered into soft pinks, blues, and purples.

Not Imagery A girl played by the water.

Sound Example The waves crashed softly next to the smiling little girl while seagulls squawked and skimmed the water looking for fish.

Not Imagery I drank lemonade.

Taste Example The ice cold lemonade immediately puckered my lips.

Not Imagery There was sand and wind.

Touch Example Suddenly, I felt the grainy sand between my toes and the soft breeze on my face.

Not Imagery I put on sunscreen.

Smell Example For a moment, the clean scent of sunscreen completely masked the salty, fishy smell of the ocean.
