The Namdaemun Market in Seoul is an amazing place: one can wander for hours and find nearly everything you might want—food, drink, clothing, electrical items, all sorts of interesting things—and at good prices, too! I could have spent hours and hours there.

There were several flower stands in the Market—and all had really pretty flowers for sale.

In the mercantile section, there were lots of blankets, sheets, and sewing materials for sale.

For the kids, there were many candy areas—with all sorts of interesting sweets for sale.

In the “kitchen sales” area, there were lots of colorful ceramic and metal chopsticks and other utensils.

One of the most interesting plants for sale in Korea is Ginseng – it is a “medicinal” herb used for tea. Some of displays of the Ginseng roots were really interesting to see. One of the most interesting plants for sale in Korea is Ginseng – it is a “medicinal” herb used for tea. Some of displays of the Ginseng roots were really interesting to see.

This display had the raw roots bottled in jars, as well as processed Ginseng packets and boxes of tea, ready for purchase and use. Many Koreans don’t like Ginseng—but Bob does!

Here, some nice lettuce, broccoli and mushrooms were displayed for sale.

Pig parts (upper left), squid (upper right), eels (lower left), and turtles (lower right) are all delicacies for sale.

Good, red hot chili peppers were offered to the customer in a variety of ways: whole peppers, coarsely ground peppers, and very finely ground peppers. The smell was tantalizing.

Here, three big bags of red chili peppers were lying on the ground—various sizes of peppers and (perhaps) various varieties. The peppers go great in soups and other Korean food dishes.

Various mixtures of Kimchi, the famous Korean fermented cabbage, was displayed at this spot in the market.

Some nice fish were laid out on ice for the customers to buy and take home.

The crate on the left contained some nice looking crabs, fresh from the sea. The crate on the right contained small octopi that were cleaned and ready to take home and eat. A lot of crabs, eels, squid, octopi, fish and other animals from the sea are eaten in Korea.

A variety of delicacies from the sea are laid out in wooden baskets for shoppers to buy.

No clue as to what the signs say—but these roots are available for purchase.

Often, fish were strung on yellow cords, ready to be plucked off or a whole cord of fish to be purchased.
