The Government of Pakistan, in the Trade Policy , had announced setting up of three Garment Cities in Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad. The underlying objective of the project is to reduce the capital outlay of Garment Manufacturers and provide them with a built up space, fully compliant and equipped with state of the art facilities where they can establish their units by avoiding the lengthy process of buying land and then constructing factories thereon. The Lahore Garment City Company was registered under section 42 of Companies Ordinance, 1984 with Registrar Joint Stock Companies, City District Government Lahore. The Federal Board of Revenue has exempted its income from income tax under sub clause (3) of clause 58 of Income Tax Rules, Introduction Phase-I of the project comprises of the following buildings:- Category A building =Basement plus five stories. Category B building =Basement plus four stories. Category C building =Basement plus four stories Administration Block and Auditorium. The main factory buildings i.e. Category A and B buildings have been completed which would be leased out to the Garment Manufacturers as per Leasing Policy finalized and approved by the Board of Directors of the Company. Work on Category-C building is in progress and is expected to be completed in May, On completion, this building will also be leased out. In order to ensure transparency, the premises shall be leased out on the basis of open competitive bidding on per square foot basis.
